What are Period Pants?

Period pants look and feel like your regular underwear but they are leakproof underwear, which means you don't have to wear a pad, a tampon or menstrual cup if you wear them during your period. You can bleed straight into them, and they won't leak through to your clothes.

How do WUKA Period Pants work?

Leak proof layers prevent the blood from passing through the underwear, but allows airflow, so is breathable and prevents sweating.

How long do WUKA Period Pants last?

WUKA period pants tend to last about 2 years, depending on the length of your cycle and the love they're given! After use, please return your biodegradable WUKAs back to the earth via your local clothing recycling centre.

How long can you wear WUKA Period Pants for?

WUKA period pants can be worn for up to 8 hours straight, but you know your flow best!

How much blood can WUKA Period Pants hold?

We have different styles of period pants depending on your flow. A ‘light flow’ pair can hold 1-2 tampons worth, or a ‘heavy flow’ can hold up to 4 tampons of period blood.

How do you wash WUKA Period Pants?

For best results, rinse your WUKAs after use and then machine wash with a dark-coloured load at 40° without fabric conditioner. Be sure to line dry your WUKAs, as tumble drying can affect absorbance.

I accidentally tumble dried my WUKA Period Pants - will they stop working?

An accidental tumble dry is not the end of the world and will not ruin your period pants. We do however advise against tumble drying as it can make our underwear less absorbent over time and result in a much shorter life span of your period pants.

Can WUKA Period Pants be used for other purposes such as urinary incontinence or bleeding after giving birth?

Yes, our underwear can be used for many purposes from periods to postpartum discharge, endometriosis flow and bladder leaks.

Do my Period Pants have any antibacterial treatment or PFA?

The simple answer is no. We don’t use any added antibacterial spray or silver treatment, nor do our period pants contain any harmfull PFAs. They are safe for you, your health, sea animals and the environment. We conduct independent testing on our fabric to ensure no traces of PFOS or PFOA are present (the most notorious chemicals in most comfortable products).

Will the menstrual blood smell?

No, the antibacterial properties will help reduce the odour and growth of the bacteria. However, it is advisable to change and wash your underwear if you start smelling blood. If left soaking for more than a few hours, your underwear can end up smelling mildewy and musty.

To remove any kind of smell from your period pants, please dilute some white vinegar in a thin layer of water 1:3 (just enough to cover your underwear) and soak your underwear for 20 minutes. You can then place them in the wash and add some more vinegar to the wash load 1:5. This should combat any current odour present in your period pants. You can also use few drops of essential oil of your choice in your wash load to further combat this.
